Shame on US

Today, we had the unique and wonderful experience of attending a "Preventing Abuse Conference" in Van Nuys, California hosted by Tony Nassif, President of Preventing Abuse.

We have been involved in church work and missionary evangelism most of our lives.
We have heard about "Human Trafficking, Pornography, Drugs and Child Abductions," but today, this conference exposed the situation not happening in Thailand or Cambodia, but what is happening in our own backyard.

On tonight's news, we hear that they have a confession of the killer of Etan Patz, a 6 year old boy who was missing 30 years ago. If only that had been the only case. But today, as we listened to Tiffany Leeper, Shelley Lubben, Anne Bissel and Oscar Mejia, we discovered that 1 million children are reported missing every year and many of these missing children especially girls are forced into prostitution, modern day human slavery.

We had heard about the chilling interview of Ted Bundy just before he was executed. But it truly didn't hit home until we actually viewed the interview today. Ted Bundy, on death row for the murder and torture of some 28 women and others, confessed that he was raised in a good home. His parents were Christians and they all went to church regularly. However, he became addicted to pornography and once that spirit got hold of him, it became a secret obsession. No one knew. On the outside, he looked in every way a normal all American Boy. But inside, evil thoughts and impulses were growing to the point where he did what he did to fulfill a lust of the eyes that was manifested in the flesh.

And more shockingly, after talking with other fellow inmates, Ted Bundy said that 75% of them confessed that they too started with an addiction to pornography which led them to a life of raping and crime.

If families would realize that within their home computer is a big fat demon called pornography, we should make every effort to insure that demon does not make its way into our homes via unmonitored internet usage. Parents can program computers to block content not intended for children under the age of 18. Parents can program cable TV to block any channels that might have inappropriate content.

What is scary is that children are being exposed to pornography via their parents' neglect to monitor their cable TV, the internet, watching violent, sexual and bloody movies and TV programs, including the nightly news.

We are living in a cocoon as was predicted years ago by Faith Popcorn, author of the Popcorn Report. I'm okay -- so nothing else matters. But eventually it will not be okay, as crime hits even innocent people. Today Brian Banks was exhonerated after spending six years of his life in prison, for being falsely accused of rape by a classmate who received $900,000 in compensation from the school district as she was a minor. She lied. What happened? Where did she learn it was okay to lie at the expense of an innocent soul?

We need to "educate, motivate and activate," people to do something and the church to lift up this problem to God almighty in united prayer! This is time for us to Cry for America! Cry America before we lose the final moral strand of decency when it comes to what goes into our souls through our eyes! Tony Nassif, the President of "Preventing Abuse Foundation," says Together we can make a difference.

These women left the industry not on their own strength, but with the strength of their new found relationship with Jesus Christ that gave them the fortitude to walk away and not turn back.

Thank you Tony Nassif and staff for the work you do!
